A CUT ABOVE THE REST

Discover the materials, heat treatment, coatings and structural features that support the sharpness, durability and ease of use of ARS cutting tools.

ARS incorporates a wide range of materials, technologies, and design features to meet different cutting needs. The technologies featured on this page are applied to selected products depending on their intended use and specifications.

  • Blade Materials

ARS carefully selects blade materials to suit different cutting applications. High-carbon blade steel offers hardness and wear resistance through appropriate heat treatment, while stainless steel provides corrosion resistance. For specialized applications, ARS also uses ceramics and ultrafine-grain cemented carbide, each selected for its specific performance characteristics.

  • Heat Treatment

Heat treatment plays an essential role in bringing out the performance of blade steel. By carefully controlling the treatment process, ARS develops the hardness and wear resistance required for cutting tools, helping blades maintain their cutting performance and durability.

  • Impulse Hardening

Impulse hardening uses high-frequency electrical energy to rapidly heat and cool the cutting edge in just a few thousandths of a second. This process achieves an exceptionally high hardness of HV900–1000 while maintaining elasticity, helping the blade retain its sharpness over extended use.

  • Hard-Chrome Plating

A hard chrome layer, approximately 5–10 μm thick, is applied to the blade surface to improve resistance to wear and corrosion. The coating also helps reduce the buildup of sap and resin, supporting smooth cutting performance and long-lasting surface durability.

  • Fluorocarbon Resinating

A fluororesin coating reduces friction between the blade and the material being cut. It also helps prevent sap, resin and dirt from adhering to the blade, allowing smoother cutting and easier maintenance.

  • Nickel-Based Blade Coatings

ARS uses specialized nickel-based surface treatments to improve blade durability. Electroless nickel plating forms a uniform protective layer that enhances corrosion resistance, even on complex blade shapes. Nickel-tungsten plating provides excellent resistance to wear and corrosion while helping reduce resin buildup.

  • Super High-Speed Steel

Super high-speed steel is a powder-metallurgy alloy developed for exceptional hardness. ARS uses this material in specialized scissors, including the ARSuper H (526-H), designed for cutting difficult materials such as aramid fibers.

  • Replaceable Blade System

The replaceable blade system allows worn blades to be replaced without purchasing an entirely new tool. This practical design helps extend the service life of the product while maintaining the cutting performance expected from ARS.

  • Grip Design and Materials

ARS combines different grip structures and materials to achieve strength, comfort and reliable handling. Options include textured non-slip surfaces, lightweight aluminum die-cast construction, carbon-fiber-reinforced resin and cushioned grip coverings. Each design is selected to suit the intended application of the tool.

  • Sap Groove Design

A specially designed groove on the inner surface of the blade helps reduce friction caused by sap and resin buildup. This allows the blades to move smoothly when cutting fresh branches, supporting consistent cutting performance.

  • Shock-Absorbing Bumper

A rubber bumper absorbs part of the impact generated when the blades close during cutting. By reducing the shock transmitted to the user's hands, it helps make repeated cutting tasks more comfortable.

  • Soft Grip

ARS designs soft grips to provide a comfortable feel during cutting. Depending on the product, flexible materials such as elastomer or PVC are used to soften contact with the hand, helping reduce discomfort during repeated use.

  • Cut-and-Hold System

The cut-and-hold system allows flowers and fruit to be cut and held in a single action. By keeping the cut item securely in place, this mechanism makes harvesting and collection more convenient, particularly when working at height.

  • Adjustable Pivot Nut

The adjustable pivot nut allows users to fine-tune blade engagement according to the material being cut. This helps keep the material from slipping between the blades and supports consistent cutting performance from the base to the tip.

SAW TECHNOLOGY

  • ARS Tooth

Conventional saws often use teeth bent alternately to the left and right to create clearance during cutting. ARS achieves this clearance through precision taper grinding of the saw blade, eliminating the need for individually set teeth. This helps deliver consistent cutting performance and a clean, smooth finish.

  • Multi-Directional Tooth Design

This tooth geometry enables smooth cutting along, across and diagonally to the wood grain. By accommodating different cutting directions, it delivers consistent cutting performance across a wide range of applications.

  • UV-CUT

UV-CUT features an advanced tooth geometry that improves sawdust removal and reduces clogging during cutting. This allows the blade to cut through wood more aggressively and efficiently, delivering powerful cutting performance with less resistance.

  • Ribbed Blade Grinding

ARS uses a specialized grinding profile near the base of the saw blade to distribute stress when the blade bends, helping reduce the risk of breakage. Building on this approach, ARS Tech Cut incorporates an advanced ribbed grinding profile to enhance blade flexibility, reduce cutting friction and improve sawdust removal for smoother cutting.

  • Progressive Tooth Pitch

The saw teeth feature a progressively changing pitch, with finer teeth near the handle for a smooth start and coarser teeth toward the tip for more aggressive cutting. This design combines easy cutting initiation with powerful cutting performance.

  • Blade Guide Roller

A roller positioned at the opening of the saw sheath guides the blade smoothly during insertion and removal. This helps reduce wear on the saw blade and damage to the sheath, making handling easier.
